TCN Restores National Grid After Partial Collapse

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the restoration of the national grid after a partial collapse on Saturday, causing widespread power outages.

According to Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, the disturbance was triggered by the unexpected tripping of three units at a power station, removing 313MW from the grid. Restoration efforts began immediately, and affected sections were restored by 21:57 on the same day.

TCN isolated sections of the grid to maintain supply in areas like Uyo and Calabar during the disturbance, while grid restoration was underway. This incident marks the fourth grid collapse this year, with three partial and one total disturbance.
