Bayern Munich’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, is set to depart the club at the conclusion of the current season.
Tuchel, 50, stepped in for Julian Nagelsmann in March 2023, signing a contract until June 2025. However, he will exit a year earlier than originally planned due to what Bayern terms “a sporting realignment.”

Despite securing the Bundesliga title last season upon his arrival, Bayern presently trails league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by eight points following successive losses. One of these defeats was a resounding 3-0 setback against Leverkusen, coupled with a 1-0 loss to Lazio in the initial leg of their Champions League round of 16 encounter.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen expressed that both parties mutually agreed to conclude their collaboration following a constructive discussion. Dreesen emphasized the club’s objective to undergo a sporting reorganization with a new coach for the 2024-25 season, while urging everyone within the organization to strive for maximum achievements in both the Champions League and Bundesliga until then.
Tuchel, who previously managed Paris St-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, confirmed his impending departure, stating his commitment to maximizing success with the team until the end of the season. He said: “We will leave after this season. Until then, my coaching team and I will continue to do everything we can to ensure maximum success.”
Despite a quarter-final exit in the Champions League last season, his Bayern side clinched the Bundesliga title on the final day, securing their 11th consecutive German championship.
Despite the significant investment in acquiring England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur for an initial 100 million euros (£86m), Bayern has experienced setbacks, trailing behind Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and facing a deficit to overturn against Lazio in the Champions League.
Their recent 3-2 defeat to Bochum marks their third consecutive loss across all competitions.
