President Bola Tinubu has taken a significant step towards inclusivity by appointing Mohammed Isa as his Senior Special Assistant on Disability Matters. The announcement, made on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President, Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, at the State House in Abuja, reflects Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the diverse needs of society as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.
According to Ngelale, the newly appointed Senior Special Assistant is a distinguished advocate for persons with disabilities, boasting over a decade of experience in both local and international advocacy on disability-related issues. Mohammed Isa holds a degree in Public Administration with honors from the University of Maiduguri and earned a Master’s in Public Administration from the same institution in 2017.
In his role, Isa has been tasked with proactively creating opportunities for inclusion by incorporating the requirements and perspectives of persons with disabilities (PWD) into the policies and programs of all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the Federal Government. The President also emphasizes collaboration with sub-national authorities to establish a national consensus on PWD-friendly policies and environmental conditions, working closely with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
This appointment aligns with Tinubu’s vision to ensure that every segment of society is adequately catered to, reinforcing the commitment to a more inclusive and diverse governance approach.
