President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Isa as his Senior Special Assistant on Disability Matters. The announcement was made by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President, Media & Publicity. According to Ngelale, Tinubu’s decision to appoint Isa is in line with his commitment to ensuring that every segment of society is adequately catered to within the framework of the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.

Isa is described as a distinguished champion of persons with disabilities with over a decade of experience in local and international advocacy on matters concerning persons with disabilities. He holds a degree in Public Administration with honors from the University of Maiduguri, where he also earned a Master in Public Administration in 2017.

Ngelale outlined the President’s task for the new appointee, emphasizing the proactive creation of opportunities for inclusion and the incorporation of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) requirements and perspectives into the policies and programs of government agencies. Additionally, Isa is expected to collaborate with sub-national authorities to establish a national consensus on PWD-friendly policies and environmental conditions, working in conjunction with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
