In a heartfelt acknowledgment, President Bola Tinubu expressed his gratitude to his predecessor, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, for his hands-off approach in the formation of the 48-member cabinet last August. The event took place in Abuja during the launch of the book ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023),’ authored by former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina, as reported by Findwhosabi News.
President Tinubu, who took over the reins on May 29, 2023, following Buhari’s completion of two consecutive terms totaling eight years, lauded Buhari’s statesmanship. Addressing a room filled with current and former political officeholders, Tinubu recounted Buhari’s post-handover assurance: “I will be far away in Daura, but if you need me, contact me. I won’t intrude in whatever you are doing. I won’t interfere. I won’t breathe down on your throat.”
Expressing appreciation for the cooperative efforts that fostered democracy in Nigeria, Tinubu highlighted Buhari’s non-intrusive stance. He shared, “Except when I call him (on the phone) to say, ‘Are you living, are you going to the farm?,’ you don’t hear from him (Buhari) either to nominate or intrude in the cabinet or complain about issues. Thank you for being who you are.”

The book launch, attended by notable figures such as Buhari’s wife, Aisha, ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, ex-Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and various APC chieftains, marked a gathering of distinguished dignitaries celebrating the insights into the collaborative workings between Buhari and his team during the specified period.
