President Bola Tinubu has lauded the recognition of six Nigerians named among the 400 recipients of the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) by U.S. President Joe Biden. The award, established in 1996, honors outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers.
The Nigerian honorees include Azeez Butali (University of Iowa), Ijeoma Opara (Yale University), Oluwatomi Akindele (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory), Eno Ebong (Northeastern University), Oluwasanmi Koyejo (Stanford University), and Abidemi Ajiboye (Case Western Reserve University). Their achievements span diverse fields such as dentistry, public health, engineering, and computer science.
In a statement by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu applauded their excellence, emphasizing the global potential of Nigerians. He expressed hope that their expertise would contribute to Nigeria’s development, aligning with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
