Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on his recent parliamentary election victory. Prime Minister Modi’s coalition, the National Democratic Alliance, secured the majority of seats, allowing Modi to serve a third consecutive term, a rare achievement in Indian politics.
In a statement on Tuesday, President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, commended Modi’s leadership, likening his success to that of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, who also retained power for a third term. Tinubu described the election outcome as a testament to Modi’s exceptional governance of the world’s largest democracy.
President Tinubu extended his congratulations on behalf of Nigeria, expressing a commitment to strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and India. He emphasized Nigeria’s dedication to advancing shared goals and values as strategic partners on the global stage. Modi has served as India’s 14th Prime Minister since May 2014 and was previously the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.
