“Tinubu Departs for Guinea-Bissau to Attend ECOWAS Summit”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to travel to Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, July 8, to participate in the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the capital city of Bissau.

The upcoming summit, scheduled for Sunday, July 9, will address critical sub-regional matters. These include the security challenges faced by member countries, as outlined in the report of the 50th Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council (MSC). The financial situation of ECOWAS and the progress of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will also be discussed, along with the transition status of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea.

Additional topics on the agenda include the ECOWAS Single Currency Programme and obstacles to the free movement of goods along the Abidjan-Lagos corridor.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and other high-ranking government officials during his visit. He is expected to return to Nigeria upon the conclusion of the meeting.
