President Bola Tinubu has taken steps to address concerns from northern political leaders who feel marginalized by his administration. Reports indicate that several initiatives are underway to tackle issues related to alleged nepotism and unfair policies, which have led to growing discontent in the region. Northern leaders have criticized Tinubu for appointing individuals primarily from Lagos to key government positions and for not adequately addressing the needs of the northern states.
In response, the President’s administration is focusing on increasing appointments from the north and addressing poverty and illiteracy in the region, particularly through initiatives like the North-East Development Commission. Additionally, Tinubu has tasked Senate President Godswill Akpabio with championing northern causes, aiming to counter the dissatisfaction and regain support from northern leaders. Despite these efforts, tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) remain, with some northern leaders continuing to voice their concerns.
