Tinubu to Present 2025 Budget in December

President Bola Tinubu is likely to present the 2025 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly in early December, according to recent indications. While concerned about the timeline, journalists questioned Senate Finance Committee Chairman, Senator Sani Musa, who clarified that the decision to present the budget rests solely with the executive branch. He assured that the executive is diligently preparing the document for submission.

Senator Musa highlighted ongoing interactions between the Finance Committee and key economic figures, including the Finance Minister and NNPCL executives, to review the 2024 budget’s performance. He emphasized that while previous administrations had submitted budgets in early October, President Tinubu’s team is finalizing the 2025 budget, which will be submitted once complete.

Additionally, Musa expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic reforms, citing positive indicators like a decreasing debt-to-GDP ratio. He and the Finance Minister, Wale Edun, reassured Nigerians that these reforms are setting the economy on a healthier path, with anticipated tangible benefits within the next 16 to 18 months.
