Tinubu Urges Self-Reliance Amid Economic Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the necessity for Nigeria to tackle its economic hurdles without depending on foreign aid. Speaking during a joint session with the National Assembly to mark his first year in office, Tinubu urged collaboration between the legislative and executive branches to enhance the nation’s prosperity, stressing that external assistance cannot fully address Nigeria’s challenges.

In the wake of economic hardships, APC chieftain Ismaeel Ahmed defended Tinubu, asserting that tough decisions were inevitable for the country’s economic recovery. Ahmed highlighted the anticipated reforms promised during the campaign and underscored the need for realignment. Tinubu’s initiatives, including fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate adjustments, aimed at revitalizing the economy but resulted in increased living expenses and currency depreciation.

Despite Tinubu’s efforts, political maneuvers are already underway for the next electoral cycle, with discussions between potential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. Ahmed assured continued democratic dividends from the APC, signaling the party’s commitment to delivering benefits to Nigerians.
