President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the independence of Nigeria’s judiciary, pledging not to interfere with the judicial system. Speaking during the swearing-in of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tinubu described the judiciary as a key pillar of the nation’s democracy.
Justice Kekere-Ekun, the second female CJN in Nigeria’s history, was confirmed by the Senate last week. Tinubu emphasized the importance of the judiciary’s role in upholding democracy and promised to improve the welfare of judicial officers.
