The Presidency has maintained that there are no plans to relocate the Federal Capital to Lagos, as some have assumed.
Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, revealed this in a statement posted on his official X account on Wednesday.
According to Tinubu’s special adviser, Onanuga, individuals spreading rumors are dishonest ethnic and regional champions attempting to gain attention to themselves.

He argued that those promoting the untruth campaign are aware that they are engaging in dangerous politics by pitting the North against the South.
According to Onanuga, Abuja has become a permanent fixture due to its legal backing.
His declaration follows the recent relocation of FAAN, a section of the Aviation Ministry, to Lagos.
Onanuga stated that many parastatals are not situated in Abuja due to their mandates and that administrative choices should not be politicized.
The statement reads: “President Tinubu has no plans to relocate the Federal Capital to Lagos. The allegation initially appeared during the campaign last year, when opponents were hunting for any kind of weapon to stop him. We trashed it.
“Those peddling it again are dishonest, ethnic and regional champions attempting to attract attention to themselves. Abuja has firmly established itself. It is protected by legislation.
