An Area Court in Jos, Plateau State, sentenced 28-year-old trader, Bashiru Aliya to nine months in jail on Monday for stealing two cartons of seasoning valued at N98,500.
After Aliyu entered a guilty plea to the charge, the judge, Shawomi Bokkos, punished him, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
However, Bokkos ordered him to pay a further N120,000 as compensation to the plaintiff and offered him the alternative of paying a N20,000 fine.
