Valencia has requested the postponement of Saturday’s La Liga match against Granada following a tragic fire in the city.
The fire engulfed two apartment blocks, resulting in at least four were killed and up to 15 people reported missing. The club awaits a decision from La Liga and expressed devastation over the incident, offering assistance to emergency services, “We offer our help to institutions and emergency services for any need that they may have,” the club said.

Before their training sessions, Valencia’s men’s, women’s, and academy teams observed a minute’s silence, and flags will be flown at half-mast at their facilities. Firefighters battled the blaze amid challenging conditions, with strong winds worsening the situation.
Although 15 individuals, including firefighters and a child, sustained injuries, they are in stable condition. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed solidarity with those affected. The fire’s rapid spread was attributed to flammable cladding on the building.
The region has declared a three-day mourning period. Valencia currently occupies the eighth position in La Liga, trailing Real Sociedad by four points in the race for European qualification.
