Tragic Loss: Anambra Governor Mourns Students Killed by Lightning

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, is in mourning following the tragic loss of three students from Tansi International College, Awka, who lost their lives while playing football on the school field last Saturday. The governor also issued a cautionary statement, urging the youth to abstain from outdoor activities during rainfall to avoid potential lightning strikes.

Christian Aburime, the Press Secretary to the Governor, conveyed this somber news in a press statement released on Tuesday.

In the statement, Governor Soludo extended his deepest condolences to the Tansi International College community and expressed his sympathies to the grieving students and the families who have lost their three beloved children due to the devastating effects of electrostatic discharge from lightning on the school grounds in Anambra State.

The three pupils who tragically lost their lives are 16-year-old Obi Francis Chukwunwuike from Nteje, Anambra State, 16-year-old Obeta Michael Uchechukwu from Nsukka, Enugu State, and 19-year-old Usulor Emmanuel from Ezza, Ebonyi State.

Soludo recognized the profound impact of this loss on the state and offered his heartfelt prayers to the Almighty, seeking strength for both the school and the bereaved families to endure this irreplaceable loss.

In an effort to prevent similar incidents in the future, Governor Soludo earnestly advised students to seek shelter indoors and avoid outdoor activities when rain begins to fall, as lightning can strike without warning.

The governor concluded his statement with a heartfelt wish for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace and for solace to find its way to the hearts of the grieving families, the Tansi International College community, and the entire Anambra State.
