The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have both secured victories in various states as election petition tribunals conclude their deliberations regarding the March 18 governorship elections.
The APC has emerged victorious in ten states, following the rulings of the tribunals:
- In Gombe, the tribunal upheld Muhammadu Yahaya’s position as the governor, dismissing petitions from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates.
- Cross River’s tribunal confirmed Senator Bassey Otu as the governor and Peter Odey as the deputy governor, rejecting Prof. Sandy Onor’s petition.
- Benue’s tribunal dismissed the PDP candidate’s petition against Hyacinth Alia of the APC, citing the need to address the forgery allegation separately.
- Lagos’ governorship election tribunal upheld Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s victory, dismissing petitions from Olajide Adediran (alias Jandor) and Rhodes-Vivour.
- Kano’s tribunal declared Nasiru Gawuna of the APC as the winner, with the incumbent governor, Abba Yusuf, filing an appeal against this decision.
- Ogun’s tribunal affirmed Governor Dapo Abiodun’s victory, dismissing the petitions by PDP’s Ladi Adebutu.
- The Ebonyi State governorship election tribunal upheld Francis Nwifuru as governor, dismissing the petition by Bernard Odoh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
- Kaduna’s tribunal upheld Uba Sani’s position as governor, ruling against the PDP and its candidate, Isah Ashiru, for prematurely filing their application.
- Sokoto’s tribunal affirmed Ahmed Aliyu of the APC as the governor.
- In Kebbi, the tribunal reaffirmed Nasir Idris as the duly elected governor, dismissing the PDP’s challenge as “lacking in evidential value.”
