Trade Union Congress (TUC) President Festus Osifo has called on President Bola Tinubu to back his promises with tangible actions. Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, Osifo criticized the government’s economic policies, stating they have worsened challenges for Nigerians despite Tinubu’s efforts to inspire hope with optimistic projections.
Osifo acknowledged Tinubu’s New Year message, which outlined plans to reduce inflation to 15%, stabilize the naira, and boost local food production in 2025. However, he questioned the feasibility of these promises, noting a disconnect between the administration’s rhetoric and the current harsh economic realities.
The TUC President emphasized that Nigerians are grappling with inflation, high exchange rates, and economic difficulties tied to the government’s policies. He urged Tinubu to implement actionable strategies, insisting that addressing these issues requires more than optimistic speeches.
