Two Children Electrocuted, Mother Hospitalized in Lagos

In the Mushin area of Lagos State, an unnamed mother is grappling with a heart-wrenching tragedy as she lost two of her children to a fatal electrocution incident on a fateful Thursday. The victims, a 10-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother, met their untimely demise while attempting to turn on the television after returning from school.

According to sources within the community, the parents of the children, whose whereabouts at the time of the incident remain unclear, were presumably away or inside their home when the tragic accident occurred. Upon discovering the fate that had befallen their beloved offspring, they were plunged into despair. The mother, in particular, was overcome with grief to the extent that she fainted and is currently fighting for her life in the hospital.

One resident of the area, named Toyosi, expressed the profound shock and sadness felt by the community. She described the incident as a devastating work of fate, highlighting that the young girl had inadvertently electrocuted herself while attempting to switch on the television through a power socket. Tragically, her younger brother, unaware of the danger, approached her and, too, suffered the same fate. They remained in that perilous situation until the power supply was cut off, at which point they collapsed.

Reports suggest that the mother, still reeling from the shock and grief, is struggling to come to terms with the loss of her two children. Witnesses who visited her at the hospital have described her as unable to speak or cry; she remains in a state of profound shock.

Adding to the heartbreak, it was revealed by another community resident that the grieving mother had a third child, whom she was breastfeeding, when the tragic incident unfolded. This unimaginable loss has cast a pall of sorrow over the family and the entire neighborhood, serving as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of electrical accidents and the fragility of life.
