Two men charged by Ekiti police with stealing diesel

Ekiti State Police Commander Presents Charges Against Two Suspects for Alleged Theft of N232,000 Worth of Diesel Oil”

The Ekiti State Police Commander has brought charges against Azees Agbaye (33) and Alaba Oke (45) at the Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, Ado Ekiti District. The defendants are accused of stealing 94 liters of diesel oil valued at N232,000.

According to police prosecutor Celeb Leramo, the alleged offense occurred on November 15 at approximately 10:10 a.m. at a telecom mast with the registration EK10053C in the Olat area of Adebayo, Ado Ekiti. Leramo stated, “The defendants did conspire together to commit a felony to wit, stealing,” emphasizing that the stolen diesel belonged to Pyramid Risk Management Consult.

The prosecution further stated that the accused had taken N45,000 worth of cable wire from the same business.

He stated, “The defendants did conspire together to commit felony to wit, stealing. “Theft occurred at the same time and location on 94 liters of diesel oil worth N232,000 that belonged to Pyramid Risk Management Consult. I took N45,000 worth of cable wire from the same company on November 11 at around 2.30 a.m. in the same location.

“Sections 421, 295, and 302 (1)(A) of the Criminal Law Vol. 1, Law of the Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021, contravene this offense and impose penalties.”

A. V. Ogunjobi, the defendants’ attorney, begged the judge to set bail for his clients, pledging to produce reliable sureties and guaranteeing they wouldn’t breach it.

The case was postponed to December 4th for additional hearing by Chief Magistrate Saka Afunso, who gave the accused bail of N25,000 apiece with one surety.
