The Osun State University in Osogbo is set to award degrees to a total of 4,210 students during its combined 12th and 13th convocation ceremonies. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Adebooye, provided details about the graduating students and their grades. The breakdown of the degrees to be awarded is as follows:
- First Degrees: 3,959
- Postgraduate Diploma: 09
- Master’s Degrees: 229
- Doctoral Degrees: 13
In terms of grades, the distribution is as follows:
- First Class: 89
- Second Class (Upper Division): 1,326
- Second Class (Lower Division): 1,818
- Third Class: 470
- Pass: 5
Prof. Adebooye also mentioned that the university’s teaching hospital, donated by its Chancellor, Dr. Folorunso Alakija, has reached a completion stage of 97 percent.
The Vice Chancellor expressed the university’s commitment to achieving its goal of being among the top 10 universities in Nigeria and one of the top 25 in Africa by 2026. He emphasized the importance of a peaceful academic environment and noted that the university would continue to focus on staff welfare and incentives to enhance academic excellence and global visibility.
