The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Usman Ododo, has emerged as the winner of the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ododo secured a total of 446,237 votes, securing victory over his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, who garnered 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party trailed behind with 46,362 votes.

Despite INEC’s earlier announcement of fresh polls to be conducted in certain polling units in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state on November 18, 2023, the Returning Officer for the Kogi State governorship election, Prof Johnson Urama, declared Ododo as the winner.

“Ahmed Ododo of APC, having certified by the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” stated Urama.

The announcement marks the conclusion of a closely watched electoral process in Kogi State, with Ododo securing a decisive victory.
