Wema Bank has lifted the suspension on international transactions conducted through its naira cards, according to a note sent to its customers. The financial institution has set a monthly limit of $500 for international spending on naira cards.
Last year, several commercial banks in Nigeria prohibited the use of naira cards for international cash withdrawals and online transactions, causing inconvenience for Nigerians who relied on their cards for purchases from international stores like Amazon.
In the notice, Wema Bank announced that customers can now enjoy seamless international transactions and make purchases using their naira cards, including Mastercard, ALAT Mastercard, and Visa. The bank emphasized the expanded possibilities that come with using naira cards, such as exploring international online stores and buying from favorite international brands.
To ensure enhanced security and control, Wema Bank has implemented a $500 monthly spending limit for international transactions. This measure enables customers to manage their expenses responsibly while still benefiting from the convenience of international spending.
