The Yoruba film industry has lost one of its veterans, Asa Koko. His junior colleague, Kunle Afod, broke the sad news on Instagram, sharing a touching video from his last visit to the late actor’s home.
In the video, Asa Koko recounted his struggles with an undisclosed illness that kept him in the hospital for over two years. He revealed that even the state governor had visited him during his treatment. Despite his health battles, the actor—who had 10 wives—remained grateful to God for keeping him alive that long. Kunle Afod, in his post, expressed sorrow and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
Meanwhile, veteran actor Charles Inojie has defended Nollywood against criticism over movies depicting ritual killings and fraud. He argued that films merely reflect societal realities and should be commended for their expository value rather than condemned. According to him, the real issue lies in the erosion of family values, not Nollywood.
