A 200-level student of Arts and Social Sciences at Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State has allegedly thrown her newborn baby from the upper-floor of the female hostel after giving birth.
The occupants of the Morocco Female Hostel on the university campus woke up to the tragic incident.
According to a female witness in the hostel, they woke up and saw the newborn baby girl on the floor, dead, thrown from a three-story building.
She said the girl did this in a bid to hide her shame.
According to the police report, the police received a report that a 200-level student gave birth and threw the baby from a three-story building, resulting in the child’s instant death.
He said a team of policemen raced to the scene of the crime after receiving the report and carried the baby and mother to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse, where the infant was declared dead by a medical doctor.
The suspect was admitted and is responding to therapy.
