The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested five suspects, including two Nigeriens, allegedly linked to the supply of weapons used in the attack on St Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State.
The incident, which occurred on November 21, 2025, led to the abduction of nearly 300 students and staff from the boarding school.
Security sources said the suspects were picked up in separate operations across different locations, with a large cache of weapons recovered.
Items seized reportedly include AK rifles, magazines, and over 1,400 rounds of live ammunition.
One of the suspects, identified as Yusuf Mohammed (also known as Bature), was said to be on a wanted list linked to extremist activities.
Another suspect, Goni Ibrahim, described as an international arms courier, was arrested alongside an accomplice during a follow-up operation.
Investigators believe the suspects played roles in supplying weapons to gunmen responsible for the school attack.
The DSS says further investigations are ongoing to track other members of the network and prevent future attacks.
