Residents of Esin-Ele community in Oyo State have resorted to traditional spiritual practices following the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers by armed men along a rural route.

The community’s traditional ruler, Muraina Mutairo, led hunters, worshippers, and local vigilantes in public rites aimed at securing the release of the victims.

The spiritual gathering drew large crowds as fear grew over the safety of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers.

Community members said the decision became necessary after repeated attacks and growing insecurity in rural parts of the  State.

Local vigilantes have continued bush-combing operations while families of the victims wait anxiously for updates on their release.
