The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has distanced itself from Omoyele Sowore’s Take It Back (TIB) Movement, stating that it will not participate in the group’s planned protests. The student body accused the movement of pursuing political interests under the guise of activism.
NANS President Akinteye Babatunde Afeez also dismissed reports questioning his student status, insisting he is a student of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology. He further argued that the movement’s blend of activism, journalism and politics has raised concerns about its true objectives.
Despite rejecting the protest movement, NANS reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the release of abducted students and teachers. The association said it would continue to hold the government accountable while promoting peaceful and lawful engagement.
