About Now Election Tribunal Nullifies Plateau State Assembly Speaker’s Electio

Jos, Plateau State – The National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Jos, delivered a significant ruling today, nullifying the election of Moses Sule, the current Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, who was elected as the representative of the Mikang State constituency.

Moses Sule, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had been occupying the prestigious position of Speaker. However, the tribunal’s verdict on Friday declared his election null and void. In addition, the tribunal issued a directive to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to revoke the certificate of return earlier issued to Sule and instead award it to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daniel Nanlong. Nanlong had garnered the second-highest number of votes during the election.

The tribunal’s decision was rooted in the assertion that Sule’s candidacy, nominated by the PDP, lacked a legal structure that qualified him to stand for election during the last poll.

This ruling is expected to have far-reaching implications on the political landscape in Plateau State. Further details on the tribunal’s decision are forthcoming. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.
