Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of corruption and misconduct. In an interview on Untold Stories with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie, Atiku claimed the National Assembly’s leadership is corrupt, citing its approval of President Bola Tinubu’s state of emergency in Rivers State.
Atiku, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also alleged that Akpabio had a history of corruption and abuse of power dating back to his time as governor. When asked about his decision not to choose Nyesom Wike as his running mate, he firmly stated that he had no regrets.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Atiku said he is open to supporting a strong opposition coalition. He recalled a similar political merger in 2014, which led to a united front, and stressed that Nigeria now needs experienced and credible leadership more than ever.
