The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has called on contractors handling various projects in the state to take advantage of the dry season to expedite the completion of their projects. The governor made this appeal during an inspection of key projects within the state metropolis.
Accompanied by members of the state executive council, legislative arms, and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Eno visited several projects, including internal roads at the Dakkada Luxury Estate, the operational perimeter road, taxi way, the International Smart Terminal Building, the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul facility, and the Airport Medical Centre at the Victor Attah International Airport.
Acknowledging that the rainy season had impacted the pace of work on some projects, Governor Eno emphasized the need to fully utilize the dry season for project advancement. He praised the progress at the Dakkada Luxury Estate and commended contractors who demonstrated commitment even without full mobilization.
“I would like to thank the contractors, especially the ones that have not been mobilized but have shown good faith. I think they have done a fantastic job, and when we go back to the office, we will try within the next two weeks to ensure that they are mobilized so that they can take full advantage of the dry season,” Governor Eno stated.
Inspecting the New Terminal Building, the governor affirmed the commitment to ongoing projects, ensuring funds are directed where needed. The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Udeme Ottong, praised the governor for a transparent and open government, emphasizing the judicious use of allocated funds for projects. The state PDP Chairman, Aniekan Akpan, also commended the governor for his development strides and pledged the party’s continued support for the timely delivery of democratic dividends.
