The Nigerian Army reported that its soldiers from Operation Hadarin Daji had successfully freed 17 kidnap victims and some rustled animals.
According to a statement made on behalf of the Force Information Officer by Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, under the auspices of Operation Hadarin Daji, forces stopped an attempted kidnapping on September 14, 2023, and freed two victims as well as a commercial vehicle carrying food in Zamfara State.
It was also mentioned that three kidnap victims who had been taken from their farms and detained in the Dangajeru forest were intercepted and saved by forces stationed at Forward Operating Base Danjigba when they were on a routine patrol.
Additionally, on September 13, 2023, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State apprehended and freed eight kidnap victims in Baggega, according to the release.
The victims were found to have been held captive for eight weeks, and their ability to flee the Gando Forest was made possible by the recent offensive operation and the ongoing fighting patrol along its edges.
On September 12, 2023, similar actions were taken in response to intelligence inputs about bandits moving a large quantity of rustled livestock through the Anka LGA in Zamfara State. Armed with superior firepower, Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) troops stationed at Anka sprang into action at the crossing route and confronted the robbers, forcing them to flee and leave over 130 rustled animals.
