Atiku Abubakar Vows to Stay Active in Politics

Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emphatically stated he has no plans to retire from active politics. Speaking during an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on Friday in Abuja, the former vice president dismissed rumors of his political retirement as mere fantasies.

Atiku, also known as the Turaki of Adamawa, refuted claims suggesting he would step back after the 2023 election, asserting his lifelong commitment to battling injustice and bad governance. He highlighted his history of challenging military regimes, emphasizing his unyielding stance against oppression.

“We fiercely fought even the military governments, let alone the civilian administrations. So, if you’re thinking otherwise, you might be dreaming. We would never retrace from fighting injustice and bad governance. I am not yet tired of political activism,” Atiku declared.

He reassured young politicians that his continued involvement does not hinder their opportunities to contest for the presidency or other positions. “Yes, we can’t keep quiet and watch things go wrong. People are suffering, and we are committed to making Nigeria a better place,” Atiku added.

Addressing concerns about his age, Atiku stated, “My age doesn’t stop the young ones from testing their fate. Everybody, irrespective of age, is allowed to aspire to be anybody in society, politically or otherwise.”

With these statements, Atiku Abubakar remains a steadfast figure in Nigerian politics, showing no signs of stepping down anytime soon.
