Bandits kidnap director near military base in Abuja

On Thursday, bandits kidnapped Aondo Ver, a director of the Federal Housing Authority in the Federal Capital Territory, from his residence during a raid around 200 yards from a military post in Pambara, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

The criminals, who struck about 12.30 a.m. on Thursday, fired indiscriminately, generating panic in the vicinity before fleeing into the bushes with the abductee.

Residents who corroborated the story to our correspondent on Thursday said that military officers were stationed at a military installation known as the ‘camp’, which is roughly 200 yards from the director’s abduction location in Pambara Extension.

They further stated that residents of the region targeted by bandits included military personnel, both current and retired, as well as civilians.
A person familiar with the matter stated, “Bandits attacked Pambara Extension over the night, at about 12:30 am today (Thursday), and they abducted one of our neighbours, Mr Aondo Ver, who is a Director in Federal Housing Authority, FCT.”The incident occurred extremely close to a ‘camp,’ the military base at the entrance to Bwari, near Pambara Extension. The area of Pambara Extension where Mr Ver was taken is only approximately 200 metres from the military base. However, the kidnappers escaped through the bushes with the victim.

Another homeowner commented, “The attack is still frightening to us. Our estate is extremely close to the military post here known as ‘camp’ at the entrance to Bwari, and there are also serving and retired military personnel living with us here, but these robbers were daring enough to invade this area and kidnap Mr Ver.”
The FCT is experiencing an alarming increase in insecurity, raising fears among citizens and authorities.
