Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has labeled the tax reforms by President Bola Tinubu’s administration as unfair to northern Nigeria and a threat to national unity. Speaking during a Christmas visit by the Christian community at the Government House, Mohammed criticized the reforms, arguing they seem tailored to favor certain regions while disadvantaging the North.
The governor urged the Federal Government to reassess these policies to ensure they cater to the interests of all Nigerians. He warned that ignoring public grievances could lead to unrest, stressing that effective leadership demands sensitivity and responsiveness. “Policies should prioritize welfare and fairness,” he said, highlighting concerns over the North’s ability to generate revenue for salaries and infrastructure under the new reforms.
Governor Mohammed also appreciated the Christian community for their unwavering support throughout his political career. He expressed gratitude for their trust and emphasized his commitment to serving all citizens with fairness and justice.
