Bayelsa State Police Arrest Suspected Killer of Former DPO, Hand Over to Rivers Command

Bayelsa State Law Enforcement Acts on Intelligence, Nabs Second-in-Command of Iceland Cult Group

In a significant breakthrough, the Bayelsa State Police Command has successfully apprehended a prime suspect linked to the murder of Superintendent Bako Angbashim, a former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ahoada Division, Rivers State.

The suspect, identified as Onyekachi Ikowa, holds the position of the second-in-command to TuBaba within the notorious Iceland cult group. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives conducted a targeted operation in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, leading to the arrest of Ikowa on Saturday.

Superintendent Angbashim met a tragic end in September 2023, and the relentless pursuit of justice by law enforcement agencies has resulted in the recent breakthrough. The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Francis Iduh, reiterated the commitment of the command to ensuring that the state does not serve as a safe haven for criminals.

Following the arrest, Onyekachi Ikowa has been promptly handed over to the Rivers State Police Command for further investigation. Commissioner Iduh has urged continued efforts to track down other individuals involved in the heinous crime.

This arrest marks a crucial development in the ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and underscores the collaborative approach between law enforcement agencies in both Bayelsa and Rivers States.
