CCC Warns Government on Minimum Wage Crisis

The Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) has called on the Nigerian government to urgently resolve ongoing minimum wage negotiations with organized labour to avoid potential unrest. At a press briefing, CCC Chairman Maj.-Gen. Christopher Olukolade (Rtd) stressed the need for constructive engagement to prevent the situation from escalating into violence similar to recent events in Kenya.

The CCC has identified prolonged minimum wage discussions as a critical issue that could trigger public disorder. Olukolade also highlighted other volatile issues, such as the Kano emirship tussle and the political crisis in Rivers State, urging both federal and state governments, along with the private sector, to reach a consensus swiftly.

Olukolade emphasized that resolving these disputes is essential for maintaining public order and economic stability. He warned against adopting destructive protest models and called for proactive measures and dialogue to ensure peace and progress in Nigeria.
