Child trafficking: 12 children in Abuja rescued by police, pastor arrested

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has verified the arrest of Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado for allegedly trafficking approximately 12 minors to Ogun State.

SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, issued the statement on Saturday.

According to the statement, on Friday, agents from the command assigned to the Rapid Response Squad 74 (RRS 74) intercepted one Muhammad Isah of Kafanchan, Kaduna, in a Toyota Hiace bus bearing the registration number APP 489 XE.
According to authorities, the van was carrying four male and eight female underaged youngsters to Ogun.

According to the statement, a preliminary inquiry indicated that the pastor and one other suspect were reportedly trafficking the children from Akwanga LGA in Nasarawa State, aged 5 to 16.

The PPRO stated that the suspects are currently in police custody.

“While investigation is still ongoing and effort in conduit with Nasarawa State Police Command on how to reunite victims with their respective families, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh psc, mni, wishes to reiterate that the safety of residents remains his utmost priority” , the statement went on to say.
