Armed herdsmen kill 2, injure others in Benue

In a recent attack in the Umogidi community in the Entekpa Ward of the Adoka District in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, armed herdsmen verified the deaths of two people.

According to reports, multiple people were hurt in the most recent attack on benue state, which occurred a few days after a similar incident in the neighborhood claimed the lives of ten people.

Joseph Adakole, a local, stated that the robbers attacked the town on Thursday night and started shooting at the victims. He claimed that the deceased were his uncle and cousin.

“On Thursday night, the herdsmen attacked Umogidi once more, killing a few and injuring others.” My relatives were the two who had been declared deceased thus far. “My uncle was one, and my cousin was the other,” he remarked.

In response, Otukpo’s Caretaker Chairman, Alfred Omakwu, stated that in addition to murdering the two victims, the marauders also attacked the security and military forces stationed nearby.

There has been peace and a greater military presence since Friday. However, they continue to threaten us. We lost two of our young people on Thursday. They engaged both those people and the military at the point of their arrival into the village, he said.

Superintendent SP Catherine Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that she was unaware of the development.

He added that although the attackers had retreated and threatened to make a surprise attack, the community had now been peaceful.
