The Chinese Consul-General in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, has reiterated China’s commitment to assisting the Nigerian government in developing its education sector. This commitment was expressed during the commissioning of the renovated China-Nigeria Friendship Model Primary School in Igbesa, Ogun State.
Consul-General Yan Yuqing emphasized that education is the foundation of national development and a crucial tool in fighting poverty. China is willing to partner with Nigeria to make meaningful investments in this critical sector. The projects sponsored by the Chinese Consulate and Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone included the renovation of classrooms, a cafeteria, and the donation of educational materials to the pupils of the school.
Yan Yuqing highlighted China’s achievements in social development and attributed them to the country’s commitment to the strategy of invigorating China through science and education. China places education in a strategic position of priority development and will continue to support Nigeria’s education system.
The Chinese Consul-General emphasized the importance of children’s education, stating that it is related to the future of a country. She encouraged Nigerian children to work hard and strive for a better future for Nigeria.
The Deputy-General of China-Africa Investment, Kevin Liu, noted that the China-Nigeria Model School stands for knowledge, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding, promoting global peace and cooperation.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by a Commissioner-designate, Mr. Sesan Fagbayi, expressed gratitude for the project and emphasized that it would further strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and China. He also appealed to residents of Igbesa to cooperate with Chinese investors to create a peaceful and friendly environment for their businesses.
The Oloja-Ekun of Igbesaland, Oba Oluwatoyin Akinde, represented by Otunba Ade Durojaiye, commended the Chinese Consulate and Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone for the project and appealed for more support in developing the town. The renovated school serves as a symbol of friendship and understanding between Nigeria and China.
