In a recent revelation from the Federal Civil Service Commission, it has been disclosed that a staggering 9,000 civil servants were unsuccessful in the 2022 Federal Civil Service Promotion examinations. The information was obtained from an official list by Findwhosabi , shedding light on the outcomes of an exam that saw the participation of no fewer than 13,000 civil servants. The examination took place across 69 Computer Based Test centers and included candidates from various sectors, including the core civil service, the Nigeria Police, and other para-military and specialized agencies.
The document, dated November 30, 2023, was sent from the Federal Civil Service Commission to the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation. Identified as FC.6241/S.35/Vol.xi/ T12/268, the letter was signed by the Director of Promotions, Sani Bello. It detailed that only 3,851 civil servants out of the total participants successfully passed the promotion examination.
The attached list outlined the promotions granted to successful candidates. For example, 139 officers were promoted from the position of Assistant Chief Administrative Officer to Chief Administrative Officer. Additionally, 191 individuals were elevated to the post of Assistant Chief Administrative Officer from the role of Principal Administrative Officer. Another 313 civil servants received promotions from Senior Administrative Officer to Principal Administrative Officer, while 191 were promoted to Senior Administrative Officer from the position of Administrative Officer 1, among other advancements.
In acknowledgment of the results, a letter from the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office of the OHCSF, Marcus Ogunbiyi, informed civil servants that the 2023 promotion exercise for those in the pool of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation is scheduled to take place from December 11, 2023, to December 16, 2023.
