The Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of diverting the statutory Federal Allocation due to the state’s Local Governments in the last two years. In a letter written to former Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, Adedayo alleged that over N10.8 billion of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme fund was also diverted by the governor.
Adedayo claimed that the 10% of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, which the constitution stipulated should go to the local government, has not been given since Abiodun took office. He attributed the diversion of funds as a reason the All Progressives Congress lost some of the councils in the last general election and called on Osoba to intervene and convince Governor Abiodun to allow the Federal statutory allocation to reach each of the local councils.
Adedayo has also petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging the institution to investigate the allegations against the governor. Efforts to get a response from the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Lekan Adeniran, were not successful.
