“Customs and NPA Collaborate to Monitor Export Cargoes”

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is seeking to collaborate with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to redefine export activities and streamline operations at the nation’s seaports. The Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, emphasized the need to form a joint team with the NPA to enhance the export process by installing trackers, which would help prevent delays and diversions of goods.

Adeniyi expressed commitment to improving designated export processing terminals and suggested that cooperation between the two agencies would lead to more efficient operations at the seaports.

Muhammad Bello-Koko, the Managing Director of NPA, congratulated the acting CGC and requested support to upgrade facilities at the Ikorodu Lighter Terminal and decongest Lagos ports. Bello-Koko also stressed the importance of synergy among customs units to ensure the swift passage of cleared consignments at the terminal.

Efforts to enhance collaboration between customs and port authorities are crucial for improving trade facilitation, reducing delays, and promoting efficiency in Nigeria’s maritime industry.
