Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has hinted at possibly leaving his first child, Aurora Imade Adeleke, in the care of her mother, Sophia Momodu. This development comes after Momodu filed a counter-affidavit, alleging that Davido is unfit to raise their daughter due to an unsafe home environment and a controversial lifestyle.
In her affidavit, Momodu referenced the tragic death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi, in 2022, to support her claim that his home is unsuitable for a young girl. She cited his frequent travels, the presence of unsavory adults in his home, and his estrangement from their daughter as further reasons he should not have custody. Momodu also expressed concerns about Imade being raised in a household with Davido’s new wife.
In response, Davido took to X.com to express his grief over his son’s death and criticized Momodu for repeatedly bringing up the tragedy. He indicated his willingness to relinquish custody, stating, “Imade will grow up to see I fought for her. As for now, you can have her… Your father loves you!” Despite his efforts to seek joint custody, Davido faced backlash and expressed hope that such a situation would never befall others. He noted his contributions to Imade’s upbringing, including her education and living expenses, and highlighted Momodu’s claim that he had been absent since their relationship ended in July 2022.
