Barcelona sporting director Deco has revealed why Barca chose not to sign Spanish winger Nico Williams, opting instead for Dani Olmo during the summer transfer window.

Despite sporting links to Williams, Barca ultimately prioritized signing Olmo, and Deco provided insights into Barca’s decision making process.
In an interview with Barca One, Deco explained, “A high-level winger was needed. We have Raphinha, Ferran, the return of Ansu who was very good in pre-season but had a foot injury.
“We have Lamine Yamal… We have players who can play as wingers like Fermín or Dani Olmo.”
Deco further emphasized the need for top quality talent saying, “We were clear that to bring in a player, he had to be of a very high level, in the end, signing Dani Olmo gave you more options.
While some fans were disappointed at the absence of Williams at Camp Nou, Barcelona’s strong start to the season, winning all three games with Olmo playing a key role, has validated the club’s decision.
