Mikel Obi: “Chelsea Will be Back for Osimhen and I’ll Make it Happen”

Super Eagles legend John Mikel Obi has pledged to do everything he can to bring Osimhen to Chelsea.

The former Chelsea star revealed his commitment to helping his fellow Nigerian, Osimhen, secure a move to the Blues. This summer, the 25-year-old striker was embroiled in a drawn-out transfer saga, with Chelsea emerging as the front-runners for much of the window.

While Osimhen was eager to join the Premier League club, Chelsea couldn’t meet the financial terms required to finalize the transfer.

After tensions with Napoli and failing to secure a permanent move before the transfer window closed, Osimhen ultimately joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan. Mikel however, reamins confident that Celsea will revisit their pursuit for the formr Lile forward, vowing to ensure the deal goes through next time.

On his “Obi One” podcast, the ex-Middlesbrough midfielder shared insights on the failed move, dismissing claims that Osimhen’s financial demands were the primary issue.

Mikel assured his co-host that Chelsea would be back for the Nigerian star, and he is committed to working tirelessly to make the transfer happen, recognizing Osimhen as one of the world’s best strikers.

Mikel said, “The club is in a very happy place with Victor. Victor is in a happy place with the club. I’m not gonna rest; I want to make sure I get him to the club. Not just because he’s my friend or he’s my younger brother, or he’s Nigerian, no. He is one of the best strikers in the world right now, you know what I mean. He’s Africa’s best player.

“I know what he can bring to the club. I’m sure a lot of Chelsea fans know what Victor can bring to the club. So for me I’m not just doing him a favour; no, I want to make sure that he comes to the club and helps the club.

“We all know that would do that, so for me, I’m very happy with what has happened, and I am very happy to be in the middle of that and I’m not going to rest until this happens because I know it is going to be a great partnership between Victor and Chelsea and I know that he’s gonna help us get back to where we would be.”
