On Friday night, a driver in Anambra struck and killed a female pedestrian crossing the Awka-Onitsha Expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) state command attested to this.
The driver left the scene after the incident, according to Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, Commander of the FRSC in Anambra, who spoke to reporters on Saturday in Awka.
According to Irelewuyi, speeding was most likely the cause of the collision. He stated that the driver of a commercial bus, a Toyota Hiace without a registration number, who was traveling to Upper Iweke, Onitsha, was not identified at the time of the collision.
“After the doctor confirmed the victim’s death, the FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene and took her to Toronto Mortuary,” he stated.
He issued more warnings to drivers regarding speeding, particularly in the wet season.
