Former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame, has expressed his commitment to becoming a better leader if given another opportunity to govern the state. The Ex Governor made this promise during a Thanksgiving service held at the Christian Association of Nigeria secretariat in Jalingo, the state capital.
Nyame, who had been convicted for fraud in 2018 and was granted a presidential pardon by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022, stated that his experience in prison had taught him valuable lessons. The former governor, who served four years of a 14-year sentence, emphasized that the prison experience had provided him with insights that would guide him in leadership.

While addressing the congregation, Nyame urged leaders to stand strong in the face of challenges, emphasizing the importance of resilience and learning from life experiences. He expressed confidence that with the lessons learned, he would be more effective if given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State.
Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Gudu, Abuja, had sentenced Nyame to 14 years imprisonment in 2018 for criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of N1.64 billion belonging to the state. Nyame, however, believes that the presidential pardon has vindicated him.
