Families of 19 victims who were kidnapped and held captive by bandits have been given a seven-day ultimatum by the perpetrators to raise N10 million in ransom and three bags of food, or else their loved ones’ lives could be in danger.
Three weeks ago, Kudiri village in Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State, was stormed by bandits who abducted twenty-three villagers; however, last week, four of them managed to escape. This information was revealed by the media.
A family member of one of the victims, only known as Abdullahi, told our reporter over the phone on Monday that the commander of the bandits had called on Saturday and threatened to kill the 19 victims if their demands were not fulfilled.
“Some of the victims’ family members have started selling valuables, including crops, to raise the money,” he continued.
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson did not comment on the issue.
