In the early hours of Tuesday, August 15, a group of gunmen reportedly attacked Idon town in Kaduna State. Tragically, they took the life of a young man and kidnapped three others.
Kajuru, a local government area near Kaduna, has been hit hard by kidnappings, along with Birni Gwari, Chikun, and Giwa. Interestingly, the kidnappings had decreased significantly before the 2023 elections but surged again after the new political leaders took office.
Bala Jonathan, the Supervisory Councilor of Admin, Finance, and Health in Kajuru Local Government, confirmed the incident and expressed his distress about the ongoing attacks on the community. He shared, “This morning, kidnappers entered Idon community, taking a young man’s life and abducting three individuals. May we be protected, the kidnapped individuals returned safely, and those grieving find solace.”
Abdulmudllib Wada (Wawo) lost his life in the attack. The gunmen also abducted Isa Abdullahi, Maryam Abdulmudallib, and Fatima Abdulmudallib, with no word yet from the kidnappers.
